Minister to Youth and Families

Job Description

The Minister to Youth and Families is a full-time, salaried position that will serve the First Baptist family by leading our youth and their families in spiritual growth and discipleship while reaching and assimilating new youth and families into our church family.

Position Overview

As Youth Minister, this person will lead the youth ministry through teaching, leading, planning, and communicating. The Youth Minister will work alongside the Youth Committee in leading our teenagers in developing a biblically-based, discipleship-focused, family-oriented youth ministry at FBC. This person will also work alongside Pastor Shawn in the leadership of our children's ministry until a permanent Children's Minister is hired.

Primary Responsibilities:


Youth Ministry:


  • Develop a biblically-based, consistent, and engaging teaching ministry for our youth.

  • Oversee the teaching ministry through the selection of curriculum and Bible studies.

  • Identify and equip volunteers who are gifted and passionate teachers of God's Word.


  • Develop a youth ministry vision and strategy for accomplishing this vision.

  • Work to align and connect all aspects of the youth ministry to the life of FBC.

  • Be responsible for directing all activities, retreats, and mission trips.


  • Schedule activities, retreats, and mission trips that support the vision of the youth ministry and church.

  • Develop teaching plans, topics, and series that meet the spiritual needs of our youth.

  • Ensure that the plans of the youth ministry are constantly in alignment with the mission and vision of FBC.


  • Develop a family culture among our youth through consistent and engaging communication.

  • Create and administer a youth ministry communication strategy that keeps parents and students informed thoroughly and consistently. 

  • Be responsible for making the youth ministry a visual and vibrant part of our church family.

Children's Ministry:

  • Work alongside our children's ministry leaders to ensure our children's ministry has the appropriate staff support and leadership in its teaching, programming, and events.
